Hello everyone,
How are you all feeling today?
Have you heard of Cyclothymia or Cyclothymic Disorder?
It is considered a milder form of bipolar disorder and is also a mental illness characterized by mood swings that impact a person's ability to perform daily tasks. These mood swings involve shifts from feeling depressed to feeling very happy and energetic, but are not as extreme or long-lasting as those in bipolar disorder. To be diagnosed with cyclothymia, these mood swings must persist for at least two years, with no stable periods longer than two months and no mixed episodes. While individuals with cyclothymia are on the bipolar spectrum, the less severe mood swings distinguish it from bipolar disorder, although it can potentially develop into bipolar disorder over time.
So, what are your thoughts about it? Do you think you had a cyclothymic stage before getting diagnosed with bipolar?
