Bipolar pretty much ruines your life I read about people who have adjusted and say it can be controlled with medication good for them because I've had it for 30 years and can't cope. Lost my job and my marriage to bipolar and my children all have the illness. I don't enjoy life just try and deal with it I have no joy in my life anymore

I'm not lonely with my mania. I'm way out there with that. It's when I get into the depression is when it gets lonely. I feel there's noone out there. It's such a dark desperate feeling.
I hope you feel better

@XGraceX mania generally makes things appear a certain way that they are not. It can turn into a psychotic episode. If you're having mania you're usually wired and almost like being on methamphetamine. Loneliness is not a symptom. That's the depression phase. Depression is the final phase of an episode. It's a roller coaster and then you just drop and your drop is from whatever height you've reached during the mania usually. I've had episodes that lasted six months then depression. I'm still at the tail end of the depression from an episode I had last year and the depression hit me in November and I was admitted again. Are you bipolar 1 or 2?

@XGraceX I've been working through a depression for more than a year. I've been stable for more than 15 years, so my current friends have never seen me depressed. Their lack of empathy and unwillingness to learn about my symptoms is surprising. I don't just FEEL alone, I AM alone.

@BarbBollman Wow your friends don't sound like real friends to me. Is there at least one that you can talk to? I know in my passed I had the same thing happen to me right after high school. All my friends disappeared while I was in a depressive state and I tried to commit suicide. While in the hospital one of the girls came to visit me. She helped me through a lot. Maybe you can have one of those out of the bunch. If not that's ok you don't need them.
You do have this group to let out all your feelings to, that way you can release all the tension and feel better. I know it's not physical friends but we are all your friends and will talk woth you when evet you want. You are not alone. Don't feel lonely.

Hi friends from a country far away I would like to ask people who suffer from bipolar disorder how they succeed in bearing loneliness, that, unfortunately, is a characteristic of our disease. Thank you
