Hello everyone! I am a type 2 diabetic, and I am going to be 47 years old this month. I was diagnosed when I was 23 years old, and probably had signs about a year prior with hands shaking, etc., lows. For the first 10 years, I was able to manage with diet and exercise, and metformin. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and an underactive thyroid. Then around 2008 I was put on insulin, and now I am on 2000 metformin XR, Trulicity (started in September 2020), and Lantus at night (80 units), and Humalog before each meal, about 40 units. It has been tough, and lately, I been feeling like I will never get off medication. The stress from last year brought my A1c to 9.4 but recently thanks to trulicity dropped to 8.5, but still, they want me at 7 or below. If it doesn't improve I was told my insulin will be upped, here is the thing, I am extremely insulin resistant. My weight fluctuates thank God between a 5-pound radius, I am overweight but all my weight is in my waist, skinny legs, etc. Trulicity's side effects are for the first few days no appetite, and tired, nausea on and off. I am frustrated for over 20 years with this disease. I also have the last few years the beginning stages of diabetic retinopathy, luckily it has stayed the same the last few years so only see an eye doctor 1 time a year. Any advice on how to feel better about everything?

Do NOT take Insulin as you have way, way to much in your blood now. Here is what you need to do NOW.
Do not eat the rye bread until your sugars are under control. You must reverse the Insulin resistance.
This will cure your diabetes type 2 which is insulin resistance. We are just not built to eat carbohydrates 3 times a day plus snacks for 50 years or so.
Eat a high healthy fat, low protein, very low carb diet. Eat Eggs, Whole cheese, Bacon, butter ,one piece rye bread.
Next Meal choose among Fish, Beef, Lamb, Shellfish, leafy vegetables, whole cheese , tomato's , avocado olive oil, coconut and or coconut oil. nuts and berries in moderation.
Eat every meal until you are full, no snacks, if you are hungry eat more fat during the next meal
Take 1000 metformin twice a day.
This will reverse your insulin resistance and you can get off the metformin within a few months or so.
This is 100% effective and although your doctor may not tell you this, he will agree with it 100%
You can cure yourself.

Hello! This is my first time with carenity.us.
I am 74 yrs. young. When I was 69 yrs. I was told I was a type 2 diabetic, My mother was 69 yrs.and her 6 siblings all were diabetic in their mid to late 60’s.
Until 6 months ago I was doing well on Glipizide twice a day. I have lost 50 lbs. due to a throat infection from December until March. It was believed that I had Lymphoma, but thank goodness that was NOT the case.
Now as of this month July 2021, I am being put on Insulin….I have to jump thru a lot of hoops as a Kaiser Permanente client, before I will be started on Insulin!
I do not use my oven during this intolerable hot weather. I only microwave any meal, cook stove top meals.
I am very tired and weak as I am recovering from a serious fall that broke a bone off a facet in my neck about a week and half ago.
Any suggestions on my diet. I do eat Cherrios with 1% milk for breakfast, cold chicken wings for lunch & raspberries or strawberries for an afternoon snack, and for dinner I eat black beans.

That is the worst breakfast for you. The cheerios are all sugar, the milk has the fat removed that you need for energy and sugar is added. All milk is full of sugar.
Eat breakfast, pasture raised eggs cooked in butter, bacon, sausage, tomato, onion fish, eat until you full.
Lunch Combine the wings, (NO SAUCE WITH SUGAR), with the berries, no snacks, just eat more wings at lunch.
Dinner As far as beans, there are too many carbs/sugar so no. Eat grass fed beef, lamb, fish, whole dairy, leafy greens cooked in olive oil or butter, Tomato's, onions, avocados, nuts and berries in moderation.
Take 1000 Metformin twice a day, with your doctor's approval, drop the Glipizide with your doctor's approval.
This will reverse your diabetes 2, which is INSULIN RESISTANCE. Do not take insulin unless you cannot stop consuming large amounts of sugar, which you are. Diabetes is a disease of TOO MUCH insulin because your bodies cell are full of sugar from eating sugar all day for 50 years or more.
You must fuel your body with healthy fats not sugar.

Hello. I'm David. I've been a diabetic for about 15 years. When I first became a diabetic, I was very disciplined and worked very hard, lost a lot of weight, and did really well. Then I thought "I've got this" and stopped worked so hard. As the years passed, I stopped working and gained all the weight back and then some. I watched my A1C climb slowly and wasn't really checking my blood sugars much at all.
Then a little over 6 months ago, I had a blood panel, and my triglyceride level was 1500. Shortly after that, I was diagnosed with C-Diff. For the past 6 months, I've been living on a bland diet, exercising (walking) every day, and eating very little fat and sugar, etc.
As a result, my triglycerides have dropped to 140, my last A1C was 5.7, and I've lost about 60 pounds. And I seem to be over the C-Diff, as far as I can tell.
I take metformin 1000 mg twice daily and Jardiance for my diabetes. I was on Gilipized but my endo took me off it because my levels had dropped so much. I also take meds for high blood pressure and also meds for my triglycerides.
I've been checking my blood sugars 4 times a day, pre-breakfast, post-lunch, post-dinner, and before bed. Since getting off the Gilipized, my blood sugars have increased a good bit. My morning sugars are typically around 130, post-lunch sugars are around 120 - 140, my bedtime sugars have been in the same range, but my post-dinner sugars are all over the place. My highest has been 181, but others have been around the 150 - 170 range.
I'm barely eating anything for dinner (plain yogurt, cooked chicken, veggies, etc.) my carb count for dinner has been consistently below 50 but my numbers 2 hours after dinner are still in that 150 to 180 range. It's really frustrating.
Sorry for the novel. My stories are always complex.
Pax,
David

Get off the Jardiance. Too many deaths from diabetic ketoacidosis. They only say complications of diabetes as cause of death. Only take Metformin. Eat less proteins, only eat healthy animals, grass finished, more healthy fats. You can have a 3 to 1 ratio of bad fat to good. Eat a lot of avocados. Watch the videos on intermittent fasting by . Dr Berg and Dr Ecberg on youtube. Try to Eat two big meals to start, work into one. This will help your other conditions.
You can reverse the insulin resistance and become insulin sensitive with intermittent fasting. You will NOT be hungry as you will see from the videos.

I’m new here and also newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes so to break the ice I want to share my story. I was hospitalized in the beginning of September for COVID pneumonia. It was the worst experience ever after being sick for a couple of days I started to feel my lungs very tired and my chest was aching so I went to the emergency room and there was diagnosed with covid pneumonia, low oxygen supply, hypoxia, sinus tachycardia and on top of everything diabetes. Apparently covid raises your blood sugar and mines was extremely high in the 300s. I was hospitalized for more than a week and my sugar was always in the 300s and 200s. So now I’m at home and I have to be using insulin twice a day along with other medications. I’m still dealing with Covid symptoms and also while in the hospital I was coughing and choking and blacked out and collapsed on the floor so now I’m also having a hard time walking I go to the sides and I have a heavy feeling in my leg and a pain in my knee. I’m also suffering from numbness in my hands and arms I can’t even hold my cellphone without dropping it so I have to use a cellphone stand to be able to text. So my life has changed completely there’s so many changes and it’s been very hard on me I just feel so sad and overwhelmed. I want to be able to control my blood sugar but I have no clue where to start. So I was looking for support groups and found this app and honestly it made me feel a little better knowing I can communicate with real people that are dealing with diabetes. So I’m happy to be here on this app and I would appreciate it if y’all can give me any advice or tips on how to start controlling my blood sugar. What changes should I start making? Thanks in advance.
At 7 am my bs was 262 and at 11:40 am it was 203.

Hello, my name is April, and I’m so happy to be here - literally. Last August, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The news floored me. But I’m a fighter, so I told my oncologist that I was willing to do anything necessary to battle this disease. So, after surgery and six rounds of chemo, I’m so happy to announce that I was deemed cancer-free in February of last year. I celebrated by going on a cruise - just in time, before Corona became rampant. The ship was named Victory, and this was definitely mine.
Long story short, the steroids in my chemo premeds caused my glucose to skyrocket into the 600’s. Not only that, but they made me ravenous, and I was constantly eating. I told my doctor that I had cancer to deal with right now - I’ll deal with the diabetes when I’m better. What I didn’t know is that the chemo had caused nerve damage in my feet, causing me not to be able to go back to my job. I’m currently on Disability. And along comes Covid. Now I’m eating the worst foods out of sheer boredom. But last night I had an epiphany - I fought for my life with the cancer...how is the diabetes any different. So, I’m ready to fight once again. I have a ten year old granddaughter and I wanna be around for a long time, ya know? So, anyway, that’s my story. Thanks for accepting me. - OCwarrior (Ovarian Cancer Warrior)
