I may seem contrary to most here, but the psychological damage, violence, drunkenness/drug abuse, suicides and financial ruin caused by these lockdowns seems a larger problem than the virus itself. While covid19 is real, it will pass. But I don't believe that the damage to my country will heal... We've entered a new and permanent norm now...all on account of a virus with a low mortality rate. High-risk people like me know what they need to do, I'm 64 and have been fighting Hodgkins Lymphoma for well over a year now in treatment. If I was 10 years younger and in good health this pandemic would be at the bottom of my list of concerns with less than a 1% mortality rate. Sure I "mask" when I go among people, it's the courteous thing to do. Of course we all know that a cheap face covering won't stop particles less than 1/2 micron in diameter from coming and going, we all would need true HEPA filtration at the least. It's always been a good idea to wash hands often. This country is bankrupt, we can't even pay off the interest on our national debt. As my health improves and the lymphoma seems to be in remission for the moment I don't know what I'll do. The house of cards will fall soon and there won't be a country left to do it in. Just simple economics. Good luck all....

On January the 4th I came down with Covid-19. My wife became ill the next day. Now I have been told that I have to be careful about the virus due to my health conditions.
Well let me make the clear. First day of being ill my temperature went up to 100.1. That by the way is the highest temp we saw during this whole bought with the virus. Our noses ran constantly. Went though 2 boxes of tissue. Was always tired, Go to bed at 7pm. awake at 6 am. take a nap during the day. I took some over the counter medications to help fight the virus.
Oh I forgot to say that during the first 2 1/2 weeks of having the virus, we where both un-insured done to being out of state.
We had flown out to Southern California to help family in their home run business. Not a very good "Vacation". We had flown out on Sunday, and ended up Driving back home in a rental. Did not want to take a chance on an airplane. 4 days later we made it home, and I went to the Walk In Clinic. Test taken, Positive for Covid-19. Told to stay home for 1 week, and then try to forget the last 3 -4 weeks. In other words try to forget January.
We are both okay. still at times get overly tired for no reason. Told I should not take the vaccine for at least 2 more months. Also told that right now I don't have to worry about getting the virus again for at least 2 months.
Now we have all heard how bad the virus can be, I will never say it isn't bad, my neighbor almost died from it late last year. But it does effect people in different ways.

I find a lot of COVID-19 symptoms twin my MS symptoms. I have been very cautious of who I surround myself with and where I go. I have received the second dose of the Moderna vaccine and after reading about the side effects, it looks like it resets your immune system and strengthens it to fight the virus. Let’s hope that is the truth and it will be effective while I continue to mask and social distance.
I religiously receive the flu shot, so I am unaware of flu symptoms, but I am sure COVID-19 is worse than the flu. Stay safe and healthy everyone.

Thx for the invite to the discussion Courtney. Ooh #dan.varady, idk if resetting a healthy immune system is such a hot idea. That is why many ppl won't get a flu shot and don't really know what this shot will do 10 or 20 yrs or so down the road. Added to that, I don't really know any ppl who got Covid and did not survive it. The question is "is the risk really worth the reward?" You hear about drug companies being sued for long term side effects all the time right? So what if the unproven to be healthy vaccine also has them too. As far as I know I am healthy as a horse and if I ever caught covid I would survive it. Now if I pass that on to an unhealthy person and they don't, that is certainly something to consider. If it were only about that the choice is obvious, get the vaccine. What about unpredictable and undeterminable side effects down the road?

Aa a former health care provider, side lined by TBI 10 yrs ago, have gotten use to it. The beginning was surprise how long it took for others to wake up! Especially "Walmart and Grocery Stores" . Since I am older at 69 try to influence the young no hugging. But to no good, just waiting for my turn in ER. Due to self placement guarantee very healthy mentally and physically. Best I can be with Diabetes, high bp , and kidney failure stage 3 (stable). T.V. is a good distraction and facebook. As for my Diabetes was diagnosed after symptoms for 20 years. Finally convertered on pre-employment exam for dept of Defense. Just before a conference was told needed insulin thru military diabetic counselor as a civilian. Than they were discontinued, politics? Coincidentally while I was at a medical conference I was struck by a car sustaining a 2 week Coma and TBI. The stress, MRI and contrast with Metformin put me in Kidney failure and permanent insulin Dependent D.M. My Endocrinologist said still type II since high bp. He changed his mind when he seen my elevated antibodies , in the 2000 range , normal is teens? My new Primary said maybe it is the new one called type 1.5 D.M. I am in shock as I did 22 years in the ARMY and passed all physicals in flying colors. So is there more than 2 types. Now I am considered Atypical. My guess is the Army exercise kept my weight down and symptoms at bay. Oh well a lot to share. To add to the puzzle mom and dad were not diabetics. Atypical?

Feeling ok. Basically a p end time on Facebook, scrabble and word games. Helps with recovery process of a TBI complicated by v my D.M. type 2 ? Insulin dependent, cause unknown or . uncertain. Good news the ? last week. Glucose has been under 120 in am average 85 . Biggest issue. is follow up with providers limited telephonic. Awaiting documentation of RX for home health care . Not a b 8 g p problemn in last 10 yrs. Now everything transition to mandatory computer input, making process difficult. Still positive with whole situation, as things will be what will be! Nick
