I have been on Zyprexa for 13 years and over the past few months I really started feeling like it wasn’t helping anymore. My doctor put me on Lithium and up’d my mood stabilizer, Lamictil, from 100 MG a day to 100 MG twice a day. I just started this yesterday but I was wondering if anyone else is on this combination and if it works. I also take Celexa 20 MG a day and Xanax 1 MG three times a day along with Tacrolimus (an anti rejection medication twice a day) because I had an emergency liver transplant 4 years ago.

@Kenzie22 how old are you? I think if you feel like meds will help control your disorders, you should be allowed to take them. I would be a total disaster if I wasn’t on my meds for bipolar, depression, and anxiety. ♥️

@Cris86 I was put on a 72 hour hold at Harding Mental Health Hospital because I had stopped taking my meds and had a psychotic break with hallucinations.

@SparkleMotion14 I'm only 16 so then again what do I know, but I've been introduced and experienced a lot of things no 16-year-old should go through or have had to go through. Meds just aren't something I want to put my trust in. I don't want to take meds every day for my issues. I get that's some people's decision, but I'd rather not. I'm not judging anyone though, because I have ZERO room to judge anyone.

@SparkleMotion14 I just feel I'm going to be dependent on whatever med helps my problems. Like let's say this, I forget my meds one day, and then all of those issues that I have are just going to be so heavy on me throughout the day. I will most likely not be able to handle it, because I would be so used to the meds doing that for me. I'd rather just write my problems down, have my little cry alone, and get myself back together. It's what I know and what I usually do. I've never had a shoulder to cry on or something to cope with my issues. Well, my music/lyrics were my coping mechanism in a way. I don't need anyone or anything. As long as I got myself and I'm still sane I think I can get through my problems alone as usual.

I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, and Major Depressive Disorder in 2003, when I was 36 years old. I tried numerous different meds over a period of about 3 years. There is no cure. If the meds you are on now are helping you, then PLEASE stay on them. Sometimes going OFF your meds it is dangerous, and will take longer to find other meds that work for you, when/if you choose that option. Therapy has helped me, a lot. You NEED to talk to SOMEONE in order to feel better. Plus if you get the right therapist, (I know there are quacks in every aspect of The medical Field) then they can help you with different techniques to try to aliviate or make symptoms more tolerable. I am merely speaking from my own experience as well as what I have been taught by running a support group. I urge you to PLEASE get professional help and stick with it. ❤️

They readjusted my medicine. I know when I miss my afternoon dosage because I start stuttering. So nice not to feel alone

@Classycathy Absolutely! Try the cannabis pens. The come in Sativa (energetic high), Indica (a mellow and relaxing high) or blends. You can read on the box to see what the strain type is so you don’t grab the wrong one. I use Indica during my manic episodes. While it doesn’t completely rid me of the mania, but it definitely helps and gives me some relief. I believe you can buy them online. Our friends usually have them on hand so we get ours that way. Good luck!🍀

Hello everyone,
How are you doing today?
I thought we could use a space to introduce ourselves and talk about our experiences with bipolar disorder.
What is your bipolar disorder story? How were you diagnosed? Were you diagnosed as a teen or later as an adult? How are you doing now? What medications or treatments have you tried?
Feel free to share your story, your advice or your support here!
