I have been fighting anxiety/panic disorder my entire adult life. Until about two years ago when I was finally put on medication that works. I was also recently diagnosed with suicidal depression and am on a med that works. Unfortunately, I was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but I was put on lithium and lamictal to address that. I think that I am finally fixed. I see a psychiatrist once a month to monitor my meds and I see a psychologist once a week to work through my ptsd and grief. I feel good.

I have Bipolar Disorder Type 2.....Mostly Depressive.....I very stable now....I'm currently writing two books for Publication soon....I already have another one completed back in November 2020 of last year....So I'm currently printing all of them on Word, a Microsoft Application....Completing my manuscripts for Publication soon....Also, sold seven of my drawings to an art dealer named Stephan Avon of Avon Studios in Springfield, Illinois as well. As a kind gesture on his part, he showed them for a week at the University of Illinois at Springfield for me, in their Student Union Hall. That was so cool of him!!! Anyway, I'm also still playing my instruments at home because of Covid-19 precautions as well. So, I keep pretty busy being an creative individual, don't you think?

Yes, you sound extremely creative and busy! I am also a published author 4x. I also have bipolar2 (among other things) and that means we only get the depression and not the manic phase. How are you doing with your bipolar? Do you also have other issues that require meds? I’m from PA and I guess your from IL? I can be reached at: raj17201@hotmail.com if you’d like a pen pal to talk. Good luck with your art and books to be published! BTW my name is Randy.

Medications are not a crutch. With bipolar illness, the chemicals in the brain are out of whack. The medications bring the chemicals in the brain back to where they would normally be.

I was in denial of my mental illness for many years. I went 11 years without taking medications. It wasn't until I got in trouble with the law that i took mental illness seriously. After that, I realized, that yes, I had a problem and that it needed to be dealt with. I got on medications, this was 19 yrs ago, and I have been a model citizen ever since.

This is my prescription to handling bipolar one disorder: Get enough sleep, take your medications every day, have a proper diet and exercise. So important.

@Classycathy Absolutely! Try the cannabis pens. The come in Sativa (energetic high), Indica (a mellow and relaxing high) or blends. You can read on the box to see what the strain type is so you don’t grab the wrong one. I use Indica during my manic episodes. While it doesn’t completely rid me of the mania, but it definitely helps and gives me some relief. I believe you can buy them online. Our friends usually have them on hand so we get ours that way. Good luck!🍀

Hello everyone,
How are you doing today?
I thought we could use a space to introduce ourselves and talk about our experiences with bipolar disorder.
What is your bipolar disorder story? How were you diagnosed? Were you diagnosed as a teen or later as an adult? How are you doing now? What medications or treatments have you tried?
Feel free to share your story, your advice or your support here!
